MPRR Project Damaturu – Economic Assistance for Migrant Returnees

In partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM)

Project Overview

AISVIP implemented a comprehensive livelihood reintegration programme in Damaturu to support migrant returnees in rebuilding their lives. The project was designed to restore economic stability, promote self-reliance, and facilitate sustainable reintegration into their communities.

Our Approach

The intervention adopted a structured, beneficiary-centered approach that combined:

  • Market-relevant vocational skills training
  • Entrepreneurship and business management development
  • Start-up support through grants and vocational kits
  • Continuous mentorship and case management

Implementation Strategy

Beneficiaries were carefully profiled to identify their skills, interests, and market opportunities. They were then enrolled in targeted training programmes aligned with local economic demands.

Upon completion of training, participants received:

  • Financial support in the form of start-up grants
  • Vocational toolkits to launch their businesses

AISVIP also provided ongoing mentorship, technical guidance, and case management to ensure business growth and long-term sustainability.

Impact

  • Improved economic independence among migrant returnees
  • Increased access to sustainable livelihood opportunities
  • Strengthened resilience and reduced vulnerability
  • Successful reintegration into local communities
